The Basics of Face Portraits

Binders

Explore the world of portrait painting; break down the walls and barriers to expand your freedom of expression. In this workshop, Ariel will discuss the concepts of composition, intent, value, color and application.

Supply List:
• Acrylic paints: Minimum of 3 primaries (red, yellow, blue), 3 secondaries (orange, green, violet), as well as white and black (purchse individually or in a set)
• 3 or 4 synthetic brushes suitable for use with acrylics (purchase set with assorted rounds and flats, ranging in size from small detail brush to 1″ flat)
• Disposable paper palette pad or plastic mixing tray
• 12″ x 16″ • 1 canvas board or 1 pre-stretched & primed canvas, any size
• Sharpened drawing pencil
• Eraser
• Imagery/photo reference to use as inspiration

This is the perfect class for the student who is new to art, as well as for those who would like to further develop their skills.

Supply List (Not Included in Class Fee):
• pencils – 1 each: 4B, 2B, HB, 2H
• erasers – 1 each: kneaded, art gum, Pink Pearl
• pencil sharpener • charcoal – 2 sticks vine (can be purchased in packets), and 1 stick compressed
• Conte crayon – 1 each: white, brown, black
• black India ink (for drawing, not mechanical pens)
• pen staff and assorted pen points (Can be purchased in kit. Make sure for drawing, not lettering)
• brush suitable for ink (bamboo handled brush recommended)
• small containers for waters (plastic)
• cotton rag, paper towels
• ruler
• 1 sketchbook, approximately 14″ x 17″ in size (suitable for a variety of media)
• 18″ x 24″ pad drawing paper (suitable for a variety of media) or bristol pad
• 1 pad newsprint
• 1 sheet tinted paper (suitable for conte crayon, gray or brown recommended)

Topstitch Tuesday Learn-To-Sew @ Topstitch

In this class, you will learn the basics of sewing while sewing a reusable snack bag. This will include a short overview of the parts of the sewing machine and how to use them, learn how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine. Once you’ve threaded the machine you’ll learn how to cut out your pattern, learn the basics of understanding seam allowance, and straight stitching. We’ll provide the pattern and specific instructions and guide you along the way to make a super cute and functional snack bag. Its simple design is equally simple to make.

  • Skills taught: The skills you will learn in the class are how to understand a sewing machine, the concept of seam allowance and how to sew to a particular seam allowance, how to pin and cut fabric, and how to sew in a straight line.
  • Skills expected: None, just an open mind.
  • Materials needed: Two fabric pieces 1/2 yard for each piece (1 interior / 1 exterior). “Fat quarter” size is great! Suitable fabrics are quilting cotton.

An introductory class that presents to students the absolute basics of drawing. Students will learn to work with a variety of media including pencil, charcoal, and ink, while becoming familiar with techniques and styles associated with each. This is the perfect class for the student who is new to art, as well as for those who would like to further develop their skills.

Supply List (Not Included in Class Fee):
• pencils – 1 each: 4B, 2B, HB, 2H
• erasers – 1 each: kneaded, art gum, Pink Pearl
• pencil sharpener • charcoal – 2 sticks vine (can be purchased in packets), and 1 stick compressed
• Conte crayon – 1 each: white, brown, black
• black India ink (for drawing, not mechanical pens)
• pen staff and assorted pen points (Can be purchased in kit. Make sure for drawing, not lettering)

An introductory class that presents to students the absolute basics of drawing. Students will learn to work with a variety of media including pencil, charcoal, and ink, while becoming familiar with techniques and styles associated with each. This is the perfect class for the student who is new to art, as well as for those who would like to further develop their skills.

Supply List (Not Included in Class Fee):
• pencils – 1 each: 4B, 2B, HB, 2H

In this class, you will learn the basics of sewing while sewing a reusable snack bag. This will include a short overview of the parts of the sewing machine and how to use them, learn how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine. Once you’ve threaded the machine you’ll learn how to cut out your pattern, learn the basics of understanding seam allowance, and straight stitching. We’ll provide the pattern and specific instructions and guide you along the way to make a super cute and functional snack bag. Its simple design is equally simple to make.

  • Skills taught: The skills you will learn in the class are how to understand a sewing machine, the concept of seam allowance and how to sew to a particular seam allowance, how to pin and cut fabric, and how to sew in a straight line.
  • Skills expected: None, just an open mind.
  • Materials needed: Two fabric pieces 1/2 yard for each piece (1 interior / 1 exterior). “Fat quarter” size is great! Suitable fabrics are quilting cotton.

An introductory class that presents to students the absolute basics of drawing. Students will learn to work with a variety of media including pencil, charcoal, and ink, while becoming familiar with techniques and styles associated with each. This is the perfect class for the student who is new to art, as well as for those who would like to further develop their skills.

Supply List (Not Included in Class Fee):
• pencils – 1 each: 4B, 2B, HB, 2H
• erasers – 1 each: kneaded, art gum, Pink Pearl

In this class, you will learn the basics of sewing while sewing a reusable snack bag. This will include a short overview of the parts of the sewing machine and how to use them, learn how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine. Once you’ve threaded the machine you’ll learn how to cut out your pattern, learn the basics of understanding seam allowance, and straight stitching. We’ll provide the pattern and specific instructions and guide you along the way to make a super cute and functional snack bag. Its simple design is equally simple to make.

  • Skills taught: The skills you will learn in the class are how to understand a sewing machine, the concept of seam allowance and how to sew to a particular seam allowance, how to pin and cut fabric, and how to sew in a straight line.
  • Skills expected: None, just an open mind.
  • Materials needed: Two fabric pieces 1/2 yard for each piece (1 interior / 1 exterior). “Fat quarter” size is great! Suitable fabrics are quilting cotton.

In this class, you will learn the basics of sewing while sewing a reusable snack bag. This will include a short overview of the parts of the sewing machine and how to use them, learn how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine. Once you’ve threaded the machine you’ll learn how to cut out your pattern, learn the basics of understanding seam allowance, and straight stitching. We’ll provide the pattern and specific instructions and guide you along the way to make a super cute and functional snack bag. Its simple design is equally simple to make.

  • Skills taught: The skills you will learn in the class are how to understand a sewing machine, the concept of seam allowance and how to sew to a particular seam allowance, how to pin and cut fabric, and how to sew in a straight line.
  • Skills expected: None, just an open mind.
  • Materials needed: Two fabric pieces 1/2 yard for each piece (1 interior / 1 exterior). “Fat quarter” size is great! Suitable fabrics are quilting cotton.
  • Materials provided: Snack bag sewing pattern, a sewing machine, sewing thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, an iron and ironing board.

An introductory class that presents to students the absolute basics of drawing. Students will learn to work with a variety of media including pencil, charcoal, and ink, while becoming familiar with techniques and styles associated with each. This is the perfect class for the student who is new to art, as well as for those who would like to further develop their skills.

Supply List (Not Included in Class Fee):
• pencils – 1 each: 4B, 2B, HB, 2H
• erasers – 1 each: kneaded, art gum, Pink Pearl
• pencil sharpener • charcoal – 2 sticks vine (can be purchased in packets), and 1 stick compressed
• Conte crayon – 1 each: white, brown, black
• black India ink (for drawing, not mechanical pens)
• pen staff and assorted pen points (Can be purchased in kit. Make sure for drawing, not lettering)

The band’s members have been influenced by and admirers of Fleetwood Mac for many years and strive to not only recreate their unmistakable, enchanting sound but to give it the honor it so rightly deserves. Fans attending Rumours concerts can feel the love!

In 2018 Fleetwood Mac will embark on their farewell tour. Rumours are determined to keep the music of the legendary band alive and look forward to playing for larger audiences both nationally and internationally. Rumours are composed of band members Mekenzie Jackson (lead vocals), Doug Easterly (lead and backing vocals, guitar and percussion), Alex Thrift (lead guitar), Adrienne Cottrell (keyboards, lead and backing vocals), Nick Whitson (bass) and Daniel Morrison (drums).

An introductory class that presents to students the absolute basics of drawing. Students will learn to work with a variety of media including pencil, charcoal, and ink, while becoming familiar with techniques and styles associated with each. This is the perfect class for the student who is new to art, as well as for those who would like to further develop their skills.

Supply List (Not Included in Class Fee):
• pencils – 1 each: 4B, 2B, HB, 2H
• erasers – 1 each: kneaded, art gum, Pink Pearl
• pencil sharpener • charcoal – 2 sticks vine (can be purchased in packets), and 1 stick compressed

In this class, you will learn the basics of sewing while sewing a reusable snack bag. This will include a short overview of the parts of the sewing machine and how to use them, learn how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine. Once you’ve threaded the machine you’ll learn how to cut out your pattern, learn the basics of understanding seam allowance, and straight stitching. We’ll provide the pattern and specific instructions and guide you along the way to make a super cute and functional snack bag. Its simple design is equally simple to make.

  • Skills taught: The skills you will learn in the class are how to understand a sewing machine, the concept of seam allowance and how to sew to a particular seam allowance, how to pin and cut fabric, and how to sew in a straight line.
  • Skills expected: None, just an open mind.
  • Materials needed: Two fabric pieces 1/2 yard for each piece (1 interior / 1 exterior). “Fat quarter” size is great! Suitable fabrics are quilting cotton.
  • Materials provided: Snack bag sewing pattern, a sewing machine, sewing thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, an iron and ironing board.

Beginner Drawing at Binders @ Binders

An introductory class that presents to students the absolute basics of drawing. Students will learn to work with a variety of media including pencil, charcoal, and ink, while becoming familiar with techniques and styles associated with each. This is the perfect class for the student who is new to art, as well as for those who would like to further develop their skills.

Supply List (Not Included in Class Fee):
• pencils – 1 each: 4B, 2B, HB, 2H
• erasers – 1 each: kneaded, art gum, Pink Pearl
• pencil sharpener • charcoal – 2 sticks vine (can be purchased in packets), and 1 stick compressed
• Conte crayon – 1 each: white, brown, black
• black India ink (for drawing, not mechanical pens)
• pen staff and assorted pen points (Can be purchased in kit. Make sure for drawing, not lettering)
• brush suitable for ink (bamboo handled brush recommended)
• small containers for waters (plastic)
• cotton rag, paper towels
• ruler
• 1 sketchbook, approximately 14″ x 17″ in size (suitable for a variety of media)
• 18″ x 24″ pad drawing paper (suitable for a variety of media) or bristol pad
• 1 pad newsprint
• 1 sheet tinted paper (suitable for conte crayon, gray or brown recommended)
• scissors
• magazines with interesting imagery
• 1 sheet or roll graphite paper

Topstitch Tuesday Learn-To-Sew @ Topstitch

In this class, you will learn the basics of sewing while sewing a reusable snack bag. This will include a short overview of the parts of the sewing machine and how to use them, learn how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine. Once you’ve threaded the machine you’ll learn how to cut out your pattern, learn the basics of understanding seam allowance, and straight stitching. We’ll provide the pattern and specific instructions and guide you along the way to make a super cute and functional snack bag. Its simple design is equally simple to make.

  • Skills taught: The skills you will learn in the class are how to understand a sewing machine, the concept of seam allowance and how to sew to a particular seam allowance, how to pin and cut fabric, and how to sew in a straight line.
  • Skills expected: None, just an open mind.
  • Materials needed: Two fabric pieces 1/2 yard for each piece (1 interior / 1 exterior). “Fat quarter” size is great! Suitable fabrics are quilting cotton.
  • Materials provided: Snack bag sewing pattern, a sewing machine, sewing thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, an iron and ironing board.

The series consists of 5 classes — You first have a wardrobe consultation, then learn to sew, making an essential shirt, a dress, a knit top, and a pair of pants. From start to finish, we guide you on your way to make a range of clothing that suits your body type and interests. You will receive a 15% discount on fabric purchased at Topstitch for your course.
