Coding for Beginners at the Ponce City Market Shed

The Market Shed at Ponce City Market

About This Event

We are taking a field trip and hosting a Coding for Beginners class on the Outdoor Shed of Ponce City Market beside the Beltline!

HTML and CSS are the fundamental building blocks of the web. Whether you’re a beginner who wants to get started in web development, a designer looking to hand-code their concepts, or a marketer who wants a little more control over their CMS, you’ll need to know HTML and CSS to get the job done.

This session, designed for the beginner programmer, will assume no previous coding knowledge. We’ll go over key coding terminology and principles, introduce languages like HTML and CSS—what their functions are, how they work together—and use that new knowledge to write our own code and develop our own simple site.

Everyone must bring a charged laptop to participate.

Enter from the beltline or park at Ponce City Market and walk to the shed from the 2nd floor just follow the signs for the Beltline!

PR Reimagined

General Assembly

About This Event

Overview: While the foundation of PR remains the same, the way professionals use digital mediums to create a share of voice is constantly changing. PR Reimagined will bring together sought-after PR thought leaders from different industries to shed light on new and inventive practices that any PR professional can utilize in their own role.

Why It Matters: Traditional PR has become just that – traditional. While the world changes to be more untraditional every day, these common methods no longer prove effective. In order to be heard through the online noise, every brand needs to reimagine the way they do PR.

What You’ll Take Away: Regardless of your industry or career level, it’s important to stay on top of the latest trends. Throughout the evening you’ll be able to:

  • Learn how different industries are adapting and reimagining PR to meet their organization’s needs – and most importantly, how you can do it too
  • Find new solutions and technologies to make your job easier and more effective
  • Gain real-life insights on how seasoned PR professionals had to adapt to this new PR landscape and reimagine the way they do business
  • Connect and engage with other PR professionals
  • Have a drink on us (and maybe some free swag)

About the Experts

 Talent Engagement Manager,
Dagger

An Atlanta native, Maggie is Dagger’s Talent Engagement Manager. Her prior communications and marketing experience for nonprofits as well as her natural desire to connect people led her to take on a new role at Dagger. In the past year she has built the fast-growing agency’s talent process as well as its Employee Incentive Program, Wellness Program, Continued Education Program, and Dagger Does Good Program.

Arguably more importantly, Maggie is a happy wife, dog mom extraordinaire who listens to Phish and bluegrass and plays fiddle in a band, in that order.

 Manager of Culture and Experience,
Turner Studios

Kyle Stapleton is Manager of Culture and Experience for Turner Studios, focused on creating an environment that empowers top creative talent to excite the fan in everyone. He also co-founded TuneDig, a technology consultancy for the music industry. Kyle earned his bachelor’s and M.B.A. from Georgia State University. When not spending time at his Edgewood home or on the road with his wife Caralee and their dogs Murphy and Brody, Kyle enjoys his vinyl collection, live music, black coffee, and buffalo wings.

 Co-Founder and CEO,
Dragon Army

Jeff Hilimire is Co-Founder and CEO of Dragon Army, an Atlanta-based mobile and innovation company that helps clients navigate today’s connected landscape through the use of new innovations and technology. Prior to that, Jeff founded and sold two additional marketing agencies, Spunlogic and Engauge, within a 10-year span.

Jeff has over 19 years of industry experience and serves on the boards of the American Marketing Association (AMA), The Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce as well as Central Outreach and Advocacy Center. He is also Co-Founder and Board Chair of 48in48, a nonprofit that builds 48 nonprofit websites within 48 hours in cities across the world. Jeff is alumni to Leadership Atlanta’s graduating class of 2013 and is both an Atlanta Business Chronicle 40 under 40 and Most Admired CEO award recipient.
