Innovation has hit human resources – transforming how companies attract, train and retain A-list talent. With the industry changing rapidly and a higher demand for technical talent straining companies, hiring talent can be daunting. Whether it is attracting diverse candidates or training up junior hires, HR professionals and managers often face a lot of challenges.

Takeaways:

  • Learn how to find and attract diverse talent.
  • Tips for creating an inclusive work environment for new hires.
  • Should your team hire a Bootcamp graduate?
  • Hear why diverse teams perform better.
  • How do you discover what helps a new hire succeed?
  • Ways managers can mentor junior hires to maximum effectiveness.

Bar School: Fall Cocktails

City Winery

Though the origins are disputed, cocktails are a staple in our society. The fall is a great time to cozy up to the bar to try some libations influenced by seasonal fare. Join Beverage Director Mani Gonzalez as she guides you through a brief history of the spirits involved, demonstrates some classics fall cocktails and introduces you to some new school fall-influenced libations.

We’ll cover all the topics most important to cocktail lovers:

– Key ingredients necessary for fall cocktails

– Cocktail assembly

– Cocktail/spirit tasting

And amidst all the geeky information, there will be plenty of cocktails to taste! Over the course of each evening you will sample 4-6 different cocktails. Cheese & charcuterie will also be served.

Jimmie Dale Gilmore & Dave Alvin

City Winery

Roots music legends, Dave Alvin and Jimmie Dale Gilmore, have been friends for 30 years, but only recently realized they had never played music with each other before. So in 2017, Grammy winner Alvin and Grammy nominee Gilmore, decided to hit the highway to swap songs, tell stories, and share their life experiences in an intimate acoustic environment. Though Texas born Gilmore was twice named Country Artist of the Year by Rolling Stone, and California native Alvin first came to fame in the hard rocking rhythm and blues band The Blasters, they discovered that their musical roots in old blues and folk music are exactly the same. In these spontaneous shows, audiences will not only hear classic original compositions from the two, but they also choose songs that include a wide spectrum of songwriters and styles – Everything from old jug band numbers to Merle Haggard and Sam Cooke, to the Young Bloods 60’s anthem, “Get Together”. One thing is for sure, when Alvin and Gilmore go on stage together, it’s guaranteed that each of these rare and special performances will be different from the last. A show you don’t want to miss.
