In this Intermediate* class, we will be making a classic chino trouser. It can be dressed up or down based on your tastes, but the overall silhouette is the ideal pattern to learn a basic fly construction, introductory pants fitting, and simple alterations. We will be using the Alina Sewing Chi-Town Chinos pants pattern– mid-rise, easy-fitting, and straight through the hip and leg. The waistband is faced, maintaining a clean finish.
- Skills taught: How to sew a zipper fly, how to sew a neat waistband, how to make basic alterations.
- Skills expected: This is an intermediate class. Please be sure you have the equivalent amount of experience up to a level 3 class.
- Materials needed: Bring pre-washed and cut fabric to class; check pattern for yardage required for your size.
- Materials provided: Sewing pattern, a sewing machine, thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, measuring tap,e and an iron.
*Note: Fabric not included. To save time and space for your fellow sewists, please cut out your pattern and fabric pieces before class. We will mail your pattern approximately two weeks before class to give you time to cut out. If you want to collect your pattern in person, just let us know in the notes at check out. We encourage you to contact the shop before class if you need help cutting out your fabric.

Learning to sew a throw pillow is the classic beginner sewing class. In this 3-hour class, you will learn to sew and make a throw pillow with an invisible zipper. You will learn all the basics of sewing, including learning the parts of the sewing machine and how to use them, how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine, and troubleshoot common issues. You’ll also learn how to cut out your pattern, learn the basics of understanding seam allowance, straight stitching and sewing along curves. We’ll provide the pattern and specific instructions and guide you along the way to make a the pillow. The pattern and sewing tools are included in class. Fabric not included. Please bring 1 yard fabric to class .
- Skills taught: How to use a sewing machine, the concept of seam allowance and how to sew to a particular seam allowance, how to pin and cut fabric, how to sew in a straight line and how to sew curves.
- Skills expected: None, just an open mind!
- Materials needed: 1 yard fabric. Recommended fabrics such as quilting cotton, canvas or linen. Please refrain from upholstery weight fabric for your first time sewing
- Materials provided: pillow form, sewing pattern, a sewing machine, coordinating thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, invisible zipper and an iron.



































































































In this 2-day class you’ll make a chic & simple swimsuit. A perfect class just before the weather warms and pools open. We will be making the Vernazza Two Piece by Friday Pattern Company. The Vernazza features tank straps, an adjustable tie front, and a soft waistband. The bottoms hit at about your belly button and can easily be adjusted for a higher or lower rise. This is a simple swimsuit with a lot of style. It is fun to sew and is perfect for the very confident beginner or intermediate sewist.
Skills you will learn: Sewing with knits & swimsuit fabrics, sewing bra elastic, sewing curves.
Skills expected: You’ve taken one of our intro-to-sewing classes or have the equivalent amount of experience. You know how to thread and use a sewing machine. You’ve sewn within the last 2 years. You have some basic garment sewing experience. You will not be taught to sew in this class so please be sure you already know how to sew!
Materials needed: Your fabric. See pattern for recommended fabric. You only need your fabric. We provide everything else.
Materials provided: The Vernazza sewing pattern, elastic, a sewing machine, sewing thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, iron and ironing board.

















































This fold-over, zippered clutch is a great intro to sewing project! In this class you will learn all the basics of sewing, including learning the parts of the sewing machine and how to use them, learn how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine and troubleshoot common issues. Round up your best buds and join us for a Friend’s Night Sewing Class! In this “taster” sewing class, we provide all of the materials for a cute zipper clutch (aka the Ziplet). No sewing experience necessary to jump in on this course. So feel free to stop in for a pressure free evening of sewing with friends.

Learn the beautiful art of embroidery or continue to build on your skills in our all-levels, hand-embroider-your-clothes class. In this class, students will learn essential embroidery stitches such as straight stitching, french knots, backstitch, whipped backstitch, satin stitch, lazy daisy, and stem stitch. In class you will be embellishing a piece of clothing you bring in from home to give it a brand new life! Students will also learn about various types of threads and needles and embroidery materials.
