Join in this 3-day series of virtual workshops spotlighting Black-owned businesses. Through online sessions held February 22-25, the Summit will focus on providing entrepreneurs access to a community of experienced local professionals, alongside resources to increase profitability and longevity. Entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to share insights and solutions that can help enable and empower growth for their businesses and the community.
On Wednesday, participants will hear from Dr. Lakeysha Hallon, Founder & CEO of The Village Market and The Village at PCM, about how to translate their big idea into a business. She will lay out a pathway to success from identifying a customer base to developing a relationship with customers, building a team of partners, creating a revenue model and testing a product.






















































It’s coming to Ponce City Market! Madewell’s Personalization Station truck with on-the-spot stamping (!) will be parked at the outdoor courtyard at Ponce City Market from 5/3 – 5/13 every day from 12-5pm. Shop Madewell’s giftiest leather goods (aka Transport Totes, wallets, card cases, etc.). Just choose your favorite icon or acronym and give them the word—literally. While you wait, you can browse, shop, eat + hang around.
HOW IT WORKS
- Take your pick: You select a leather item to be purchased from the truck.
- Make it yours: To customize, select up to three characters from a font menu and fill out an order form with your details.
- Hang out: The process will take a few minutes or can be shipped to you directly!






















































In this 2-day class you’ll make a chic & simple swimsuit. A perfect class just before the weather warms and pools open. We will be making the Vernazza Two Piece by Friday Pattern Company. The Vernazza features tank straps, an adjustable tie front, and a soft waistband. The bottoms hit at about your belly button and can easily be adjusted for a higher or lower rise. This is a simple swimsuit with a lot of style. It is fun to sew and is perfect for the very confident beginner or intermediate sewist.
Skills you will learn: Sewing with knits & swimsuit fabrics, sewing bra elastic, sewing curves.
Skills expected: You’ve taken one of our intro-to-sewing classes or have the equivalent amount of experience. You know how to thread and use a sewing machine. You’ve sewn within the last 2 years. You have some basic garment sewing experience. You will not be taught to sew in this class so please be sure you already know how to sew!
Materials needed: Your fabric. See pattern for recommended fabric. You only need your fabric. We provide everything else.
Materials provided: The Vernazza sewing pattern, elastic, a sewing machine, sewing thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, iron and ironing board.

Shed Sweat on Thursday nights @ 6:30pm which will feature a HIIT style workout lasting for approximately 45mins-50min. Partnering with OG Shed Sweat trainers and will be incorporating new ones from The Forum!



















































Round up your best buds and join us for a Friend’s Night Sewing Class! In this “taster” sewing class, we provide all of the materials for a cute zipper clutch (aka the Ziplet). No sewing experience necessary to jump in on this course. So feel free to stop in for a pressure free evening of sewing with friends.
- Skills taught: The concept of seam allowance and how to sew to a particular seam allowance, how to sew in a straight line, pivot at corners & how to insert a zipper.
- Skills expected: None!
- Materials needed: None! We will provide everything for this course pre-cut and ready for you the evening of your class!
- Materials provided: A sewing machine, fabric, coordinating thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, measuring tape and an iron and your zipper.

Shed Stretch on Saturday mornings @9:30am will feature a variety of yoga styles catered to beginners, lasting for approximately 50mins-60mins. Learn the beautiful art of embroidery or continue to build on your skills in our all-levels, hand-embroider-your-clothes class. In this class, students will learn essential embroidery stitches such as straight stitching, french knots, backstitch, whipped backstitch, satin stitch, lazy daisy, and stem stitch. In class you will be embellishing a piece of clothing you bring in from home to give it a brand new life! Students will also learn about various types of threads and needles and embroidery materials.

- Materials needed: Bring in something from home you would like to embroider on.
- Materials provided: Embroidery hoop, stabilizer, thread, needles.

Our essential shirt is a great beginner sewing class, introducing you to the world of garment sewing. In this 4-hour class you will learn to sew and make our Topstitch Essential Shirt pattern. You will learn all the basics of sewing, including learning the parts of the sewing machine and how to use them, learn how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine and troubleshoot common issues. Once you’ve threaded the machine you’ll learn how to cut out your pattern, learn the basics of understanding seam allowance, straight stitching and sewing along curves. We’ll provide the pattern and specific instructions and guide you along the way to make a the shirt. It is a boxy, kimono sleeved pullover. With no fitting challenges and no fiddly closures, it’s a perfect intro project. The pattern and sewing tools included at class. Fabric not included. Please bring 1.5 yards of pre-washed fabric to class. It is best suited for fabrics such as cotton lawn, double gauze, voile or linen. NOTE: Fabric can shrink after washing so you may want a little more than 1.5 yds especially if your fabric has a width less than 50″. Ask a staff member if you’re unsure about your fabric shrinkage.
Skills you will learn: The skills you will learn in the class are how to understand a sewing machine, the concept of seam allowance and how to sew to a particular seam allowance, how to pin and cut fabric, how to sew in a straight line and how to sew curves.
Skills expected: None, just an open mind!
Materials needed: 1.5 yards of pre-washed fabric such as cotton lawn, double gauze, voile or linen.
