Whole Hog Cook Out

The Plaza

Kamayan ATL and Minero will each cook a whole hog and throw down in the Plaza at PCM, located right off the Belt Line

Minero and Kamayan ATL will be celebrating the final fleeting days of summer with a fun, backyard BBQ-style Whole Hog Cook Out at The Plaza at Ponce City Market on Sunday, September 15. With two successful collaborations under their belt, the restaurants are excited to team up once again to create crave-worthy pork creations that showcase the fusion of their cuisines. From the Kamayan team, guests will enjoy a whole stuffed pig with traditional Filipino sides, such as crab fried rice and egg rolls. The Minero team will be breaking down their pig to offer two different preparations: roasted hams + Cochinita Pibil (a traditional Mexican slow-roasted pork dish), alongside a selection of tortillas, salsa, and vegetable-forward sides.

Advance-purchase tickets ($40) includes both restaurant’s offerings for the evening. Beer and wine, along with a selection of non-alcoholic beverages, will be available for purchase.

Atlanta Architecture & Design Center will host the fourth installment of popular event series Dining + Design at Ponce City Market. Attendees will enjoy food and drink from restaurants and shops within Ponce City Market, a walking tour, and speeches from key players behind the development’s design.

Guests will first meet for drinks and bites at The Mercury—a cocktail-focused, classic American eatery—and discussion with local architecture, planning and design firm Square Feet Studio, who designed the restaurant. Next, the group will head to Citizen Supply—an artisan marketplace that connects consumers with local makers behind craftsman-quality handmade goods. Citizen Supply’s Founder Phil Sanders and a local maker will lead the conversation as guests enjoy local beer from TAP on Ponce, a beer and wine shop in the Central Food Hall, and bites from Chef Linton Hopkins’ Hop’s Chicken.

The evening will conclude with beers and bites at Nine Mile Station, the modern beer garden on Ponce City Market’s rooftop. Attendees will hear background on the 2.1-million-square-foot iconic structure from Mark Blair, corporate architect at Jamestown, the real estate investment and management company behind the property. Rooftop access is included in the event’s ticket price, and will also allow guests to visit Skyline Park, Ponce City Market’s six-acre rooftop with a boardwalk-style amusement park featuring a mini golf course, three-story slide, free-fall ride, food and drink concessions, panoramic views of the Atlanta skyline, and more.

PCM Community Farmers Market

The Shed

Located under “The Shed” on the BeltLine entrance of Ponce City Market, the Ponce City Farmers Market is the only farmers market in Georgia primarily attended by pedestrians and cyclists. The market is held seasonally on Tuesday evenings, and hosts some of Atlanta’s finest local food talent, including urban farmers, artisanal food makers, as well as pop-up chefs. Our market is a producer-only market, meaning that vendors sell only products that they grow or produce themselves. Our farmers use organic practices (some going even beyond organic) to help steward the earth while producing the freshest and most nutritious food available in Georgia. Look for veggies and fruits, pasture-raised eggs and meats, alongside artisanal food vendors and natural beauty-care vendors.

We encourage shoppers to access the market by walking or biking on the Beltline or park at Ponce City Market. Parking is complimentary for farmers market shoppers in the lots in front of Mountain High Outfitters. Market shoppers can receive one hour of free parking in these lots by choosing zone 22200 and inputting the code FARMERS2018 in the Park Mobile app. This is only valid during market.

Books & Booze

City Winery Atlanta

Ponce City Market’s Posman Books and City Winery Atlanta have teamed up to put a new spin on the term “book club.” Literature lovers can purchase their copy of the month’s selection today from Posman Books and later bring it to Atlanta’s urban winery on September 17th, 7 pm – 9 pm, to enjoy a spirited discussion among fellow readers at Books & Booze! Posman Books’ General Manager Marc Stiles will host as we discuss the newest novel from New York Times bestselling author Eleanor Henderson– The Twelve-Mile Straight, an audacious American epic set in rural Georgia during the years of the Depression and Prohibition.
Cotton County, Georgia, 1930: In a house full of secrets, two babies-one light-skinned, the other dark-are born to Elma Jesup, a white sharecropper’s daughter. Accused of her rape, field hand Genus Jackson is lynched and dragged behind a truck down the Twelve-Mile Straight, the road to the nearby town. In the aftermath, the farm’s inhabitants are forced to contend with their complicity in a series of events that left a man dead and a family irrevocably fractured. Despite the prying eyes and curious whispers of the townspeople, Elma begins to raise her babies as best as she can, under the roof of her mercurial father, Juke, and with the help of Nan, the young black housekeeper who is as close to Elma as a sister. But soon it becomes clear that the ties that bind all of them together are more intricate than any could have ever imagined. As startling revelations mount, a web of lies begins to collapse around the family, destabilizing their precarious world and forcing all to reckon with the painful truth.

Acclaimed author Eleanor Henderson has returned with a novel that combines the intimacy of a family drama with the staggering presence of a great Southern saga. Tackling themes of racialized violence, social division, and financial crisis, The Twelve-Mile Straight is a startlingly timely, emotionally resonant, and magnificent tour-de-force.

If you’re feeling naughty, the public is invited to meet him at 10:30AM with raucous brass/hip hop band John Boy + Surround Sound and his merry band of misfits in tow, and follow the Green Grand Marshall as he leads community participants with LED balloons from Krog Street all the way down the Beltline to Ponce City Market. Feeling kinder? March with Santa instead on team nice! The parade will culminate with a grand finale arrival at The Shed at Ponce City Market for the official holiday kickoff at noon.
