Modern Mystic Sunday School series offers free, 1-hour educational classes every Sunday at 11 a.m. covering various metaphysical topics. Class is held inside Modern Mystic Shop at Ponce City Market. In this class, Maia Toll hosts a discussion about the natural world and the role it plays in awakening your intuition. One of the greatest gifts of working with the natural world is realizing that you are not alone. You’re surrounded by a world that whispers advice and offers direction. But, how do you learn to decipher the words of nature? Maia explains that understanding how you receive information, as well as knowing which archetypes and elements animate your outer world and invigorate your soul, will unlock a world of connectivity. Bring a journal or sketchbook to this illuminating, experiential class.

Maia Toll, respected author and spiritual wellness guide, stops by Modern Mystic Shop on November 24th to host Sunday School. After class, she’s sticking around from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM to sign copies of her new book, The Illustrated Bestiary.
People across cultures and through the centuries have felt a spiritual, symbolic connection to animals. In The Illustrated Bestiary, Maia Toll turns the insight and wisdom that birthed The Illustrated Herbiary — her best-selling volume on the mystical power of plants — to the animal kingdom. Through profiles highlighting 36 animals’ most meaningful traits, Toll explores how those qualities can illuminate our habits, guide our intentions, and inform our actions. Spring Peeper’s ability to reemerge from frozen hibernation can inspire us to reinvent ourselves. Katydid’s five eyes can lend clarity of vision when we need to see the bigger picture. Rituals and reflections guide readers in cultivating each animal’s energy, while 36 oracle cards featuring art by Kate O’Hara further shape personal meditations. From the humble House Mouse to the magnificent Elephant, this beautifully illustrated guide to animal spirits provides new ways of connecting with the creatures that walk, crawl, slither, swim, and fly.

Pre-order a copy of this insightful book today to secure your spot to meet Maia and get your book signed! Maia’s best-selling book The Illustrated Herbiary (Special Edition Box Set with Oracle Cards) is also available for pre-order on the Modern Mystic Shop website.

The shop will have more than 3000 tapes on sale, the largest selection ever shown in the South. There will be a “free play” table where children and adults can use sample tapes to decorate and explore the qualities of MT – we will have some planned activities as well. Meet the Author: Kent Anderson @ Posman Books

Meet Author, Kent Anderson on December 1st, 2019 from 2 pm – 4 pm at Posman Books at Ponce City Market!

On July 27, 1996, a hapless former cop turned hyper-vigilant security guard named Richard Jewell spotted a suspicious bag in Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park, the town square of the 1996 Summer Games. Inside was a bomb, the largest of its kind in FBI and ATF history. Minutes later, the bomb detonated amid a crowd of fifty thousand people. But thanks to Jewell, it only wounded 111 and killed two, not the untold scores who would have otherwise died. With the eyes of the world on Atlanta, the Games continued. But the pressure to find the bomber was intense. Within seventy-two hours, Jewell went from the hero to the FBI’s main suspect. The news leaked and the intense focus on the guard forever changed his life. The worst part: It let the true bomber roam free to strike again.

What really happened that evening during the Olympic Games? The attack left a mark on American history, but most of what we remember is wrong. In a triumph of reporting and access in the tradition of the best investigative journalism, former U.S. Attorney Kent Alexander and former Wall Street Journal reporter Kevin Salwen reconstruct all the events leading up to, during, and after the Olympic bombing from mountains of law enforcement evidence and the extensive personal records of key players, including Richard himself. The Suspect, the culmination of more than five years of reporting, is a gripping story of the rise of domestic terrorism in America, the advent of the 24/7 news cycle, and an innocent man’s fight to clear his name.

Sunday School: Connecting with the Nature World @ Modern Mystic

Book Signing: The Illustrated Bestiary w/ Maia Toll @ Modern Mystic

Mr. Koji Iyama creates a site-specific installation to show the joys and versatility of decorating with MT. MT is reposition-able and doesn’t harm surfaces, so it’s fun and easy to use for decorating your home, gift-wrapping, leaving notes, or adding a little bit of color everywhere. The decoration startt from the outside and continue throughout the shop with tape applied to surfaces and also hung in 3-dimensional mobiles (all made from tape). The shop will have more than 3000 tapes on sale, the largest selection ever shown in the South. There will be a “free play” table where children and adults can use sample tapes to decorate and explore the qualities of MT – we will have some planned activities as well. The color theme and design motifs were inspired by the sense of fun and joy Posman brings as a bookstore. Please visit and let us know what you think of this bright, festive exhibit!

Sunday School: Connecting with the Nature World @ Modern Mystic

Book Signing: The Illustrated Bestiary w/ Maia Toll @ Modern Mystic

Maia explains that understanding how you receive information, as well as knowing which archetypes and elements animate your outer world and invigorate your soul, will unlock a world of connectivity. Bring a journal or sketchbook to this illuminating, experiential class.

Book Signing: The Illustrated Bestiary w/ Maia Toll @ Modern Mystic

Sunday School: Connecting with the Nature World @ Modern Mystic

Book Signing: The Illustrated Bestiary w/ Maia Toll @ Modern Mystic
