Packway Handle Band with Cicada Rhythm @ City Winery

2015 began with the Packway Handle Band touring in support of their Yep Roc release, Take It Like A Man, alongside producer and collaborator, folk surrealist, Jim White. The band’s second consecutive voyage aboard Kid Rock’s annual Chillin’ the Most Cruise yielded an invitation to join Kid Rock and Foreigner for forty amphitheater shows on the 2015 Cheap Date Tour. The tour took the Athens five-piece to all corners of the continental United States and included 10-consecutive sold out shows at the DTE Energy Music Theater in Detroit, a feat that was commemorated by Billboard Magazine. Since the tour wrapped in mid-September, Packway played the industry-focused, Americana Music Festival in Nashville, Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion, and the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco, CA. At long last, the boys are back in Georgia gearing up to hit the studio and record a new album.

Cicada Rhythm

Born and raised in Georgia, this talented pair imitates and modernizes folk music to a rejuvenating degree. The sound of Andrea DeMarcus and Dave Kirslis exhibits skilled and articulate guitar picking honed in the dive bars of Atlanta over rolling Julliard-trained bass lines. Expect chilling harmonies, unbridled enthusiasm, some wholesome tunes and a sincere performance.

Soul Understated @ City Winery

Led by singer/songwriter Mavis ‘SWAN’ Poole and the powerful yet melodic drummer Jeremy ‘BEAN’ Clemons, Soul Understated is one of the rarest discoveries in music since Motown. The influences on their music are overwhelming and pleasurable all at once. With elements from EWF to Ella Fitzgerald, Donny Hathaway to Curtis Mayfield, and Sarah Vaughn to Count Basie, and even Hip-hop infused, their music spans across all genres.…”Soul Understated is a skillful ensemble, adeptly and seemingly effortlessly weaving together soul, jazz, funk and gospel, like so many threads in a tapestry, and Ms. Poole does not miss a beat, adding scat and rap to the mix like the final spices in an excellent gumbo.”… Divastation.com Soul Understated’s new project showcases what they are known for, exquisite vocals and impeccable musicianship. “Songs In The Key Of Grease” is a set of songs that tell past and present life stories. Swan and Bean definitely have a story to tell, and they have brought it directly to you with their new EP. They are set to release their newest Single, “Wibble Wobble”, which features Washington DC natives, Marc Cary and ‘Mighty Moe’ Hagans.

Mac McAnally @ City Winery

You can look far and wide throughout the music world, but you’ll never find anyone more deserving of respect and acclaim than Mac McAnally.

You’ll also never find anyone who feels more awkward about accepting kudos from his many admirers.

It’s not like he’s a stranger to the spotlight. He’s been releasing albums since he was 20 years old – this being his 13th so far. He’s experienced the heady thrill of topping the singles charts, in a duet recording of his composition “Down the Road” with longtime pal Kenny Chesney. He’s also written several No. 1 hits, beginning with Alabama’s “Old Flame.”
