In this class you will learn the basics of sewing while sewing a reusable snack bag. This will include a short overview of the parts of the sewing machine and how to use them, learn how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine. Once you’ve threaded the machine you’ll learn how to cut out your pattern, learn the basics of understanding seam allowance, and straight stitching. We’ll provide the pattern and specific instructions and guide you along the way to make a super cute and functional snack bag. Its simple design is equally simple to make.

Skills you will learn: The skills you will learn in the class are how to understand a sewing machine, the concept of seam allowance and how to sew to a particular seam allowance, how to pin and cut fabric, and how to sew in a straight line.

Skills expected: None, just an open mind.

Materials needed: Two fabric pieces 1/2 yard for each piece (1 interior / 1 exterior). “Fat quarter” size is great! Suitable fabrics are quilting cotton.

Materials provided: Snack bag sewing pattern, a sewing machine, sewing thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, an iron and ironing board.

Minimum and max number of people for class: Min 3 / Max 6

We will host a small group of ultra-beginners* here at the bakery to learn how to bake at home with sourdough starter. We will cover how to train up a lively starter from scratch, how to mix, ferment, shape, and bake your own loaf, and how to best utilize your home oven to produce crusty delicious results. We are limiting class size due to our small space, and to maximize hands-on bench-time with our lovely bakers!

You will take home:

  • A fresh loaf of sourdough that you’ve made!
  • A bit of active starter to keep you baking at home
  • Freshly milled whole wheat flour to feed your starter
  • Information packet including helpful tips and notes from the class
  • Replicable formula for homemade country sourdough bread*This class is intended for folks who have little to no experience with naturally leavened baking. We will cover all basics to build a confident foundation upon which you can explore later, more advanced classes that’ll be offered in forthcoming months!

Sketches & Kicks is a live, silent auction social event where local artists create visual expression by sharing a piece from their sole on sneakers.
The event creates a platform where:

  1. Artists have an opportunity to promote themselves and be (filled)
  2. Guests can enjoy an evening of musical and visual artistic performances (energy exchange)
  3. Most importantly, guests and artists alike can donate shoes (share love) to the victims of sex trafficking in the Atlanta community.

We request that you bring a pair or two of gently worn sneakers. The sneaker designs will be auctioned upon completion during the event with 50% of the proceeds going to a nonprofit of sex trafficking and 50% to the artists.

Advanced Jeans-Making Weekend @ Topstitch

In this advanced class students will make either the Closet Case patterns Ginger Jeans or Cashmerette Ames Jeans over the course 3 sessions on a fun-filled jeans-making weekend. For Men, we also offer Thread Theory Quadro Jeans. Class will be begin on Friday 5:30-8:30 PM and continue Saturday and Sunday 11-5 PM.  Gingers and Ames jeans have a skinny, flattering fit designed for stretch denim. Your instructor will be in touch after you sign up to offer fitting and pre-cutting advice.

Note: To save time and space for your fellow sewists, please cut your pattern out before class. No need to stop by the shop, we will mail it to you approximately two weeks before class!  We encourage you to contact us before class if you need help cutting out your fabric. 

Skills you will learn:

In this class students will learn fitting tips and tricks to get the fit right, learn various seam finishes, learn to sew with a denim needle and thread, learn tidy topstitching, pocket assembly and proper placement, learning to sew a zip or button fly front, how to sew a neat waistband, how to apply rivets and hem your jeans.

Skills expected: This is an advanced class. Please be sure you have experience equivalent to a level-3 class.

Materials needed: Denim for your size (see yardage based on measurements on the back of your pattern), 200 yards of denim topstitching thread. We have Cone Mills stretch denim that is perfect for these jeans.

Materials provided: Ginger or Ames jeans sewing pattern, a zipper or buttons for button fly and rivets, a sewing machine, thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, measuring tape and an iron.

Minimum and max number of people for class: Min 2 / Max 6

You’ll also learn how to cut and pin fabric, learn the basics of understanding seam allowance, straight stitching, sewing curves and corners, and inserting a zipper. We’ll provide the pattern to cut and specific instructions to guide you along the way to make a useful and beautiful clutch.

Skills you will learn: The skills you will learn in the class are how to understand a sewing machine, the concept of seam allowance and how to sew to a particular seam allowance, how to pin and cut fabric, how to sew in a straight line, pivot at corners & how to insert a zipper.

Skills expected: None!

Materials needed: 1/2 yard of fabric each for the Main fabric & Lining. Recommended fabrics include quilting cotton, linen, canvas, chambray. We have several suitable fabrics available for purchase in our shop online & in person.

Materials provided: A sewing machine, coordinating thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, measuring tape, an iron, interfacing, and your zipper.

In two sessions* of this 8-hour class, you’ll learn to make the hugely popular Making Backpack by Noodlehead featured in the “Color” Issue of Making Magazine. A perfect carryall for school, work or play. The zipper top and closure keep things secure. There is also an interior zip pocket and exterior slip pocket. Adjustable straps make it wearable in any season, also features additional top handles. The finished measurements are approximately 11 ½” wide x 15” tall x 5” deep (29 cm x 38 cm x 12 cm). This bag looks fantastic in canvas, twill and especially our unique oilskin from Merchant and Mills.
*Sessions span 1/29 & 1/31

Skills expected: This is an intermediate class. Please be sure you have experience equivalent to a level 2 class.

Skills you will learn: The skills you will learn in this class are inserting zippers neatly, sewing on webbing, sewing in lining and basic hand sewing.

Our essential shirt is a great beginner sewing class, introducing you to the world of garment sewing. In this 4-hour class you will learn to sew and make our Topstitch Essential Shirt pattern. You will learn all the basics of sewing, including learning the parts of the sewing machine and how to use them, learn how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine and troubleshoot common issues. Once you’ve threaded the machine you’ll learn how to cut out your pattern, learn the basics of understanding seam allowance, straight stitching and sewing along curves. We’ll provide the pattern and specific instructions and guide you along the way to make a the shirt. It is a boxy, kimono sleeved pullover. With no fitting challenges and no fiddly closures, it’s a perfect intro project. The pattern and sewing tools included at class. Fabric not included. Please bring 1.5 yards of pre-washed fabric to class. It is best suited for fabrics such as cotton lawn, double gauze, voile or linen. NOTE: Fabric can shrink after washing so you may want a little more than 1.5 yds especially if your fabric has a width less than 50″. Ask a staff member if you’re unsure about your fabric shrinkage.

Skills you will learn: The skills you will learn in the class are how to understand a sewing machine, the concept of seam allowance and how to sew to a particular seam allowance, how to pin and cut fabric, how to sew in a straight line and how to sew curves.

  3. Most importantly, guests and artists alike can donate shoes (share love) to the victims of sex trafficking in the Atlanta community.

We request that you bring a pair or two of gently worn sneakers. The sneaker designs will be auctioned upon completion during the event with 50% of the proceeds going to a nonprofit of sex trafficking and 50% to the artists.

Advanced Jeans-Making Weekend @ Topstitch

In this advanced class students will make either the Closet Case patterns Ginger Jeans or Cashmerette Ames Jeans over the course 3 sessions on a fun-filled jeans-making weekend. For Men, we also offer Thread Theory Quadro Jeans. Class will be begin on Friday 5:30-8:30 PM and continue Saturday and Sunday 11-5 PM.  Gingers and Ames jeans have a skinny, flattering fit designed for stretch denim. Your instructor will be in touch after you sign up to offer fitting and pre-cutting advice.

Note: To save time and space for your fellow sewists, please cut your pattern out before class. No need to stop by the shop, we will mail it to you approximately two weeks before class!  We encourage you to contact us before class if you need help cutting out your fabric. 

Skills you will learn:

In this class students will learn fitting tips and tricks to get the fit right, learn various seam finishes, learn to sew with a denim needle and thread, learn tidy topstitching, pocket assembly and proper placement, learning to sew a zip or button fly front, how to sew a neat waistband, how to apply rivets and hem your jeans.

Skills expected: This is an advanced class. Please be sure you have experience equivalent to a level-3 class.

Materials needed: Denim for your size (see yardage based on measurements on the back of your pattern), 200 yards of denim topstitching thread. We have Cone Mills stretch denim that is perfect for these jeans.

Materials provided: Ginger or Ames jeans sewing pattern, a zipper or buttons for button fly and rivets, a sewing machine, thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, measuring tape and an iron.

In this class you will learn all the basics of sewing, including learning the parts of the sewing machine and how to use them, learn how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine and troubleshoot common issues. You’ll also learn how to cut and pin fabric, learn the basics of understanding seam allowance, straight stitching, sewing curves and corners, and inserting a zipper. We’ll provide the pattern to cut and specific instructions to guide you along the way to make a useful and beautiful clutch.

Skills you will learn: The skills you will learn in the class are how to understand a sewing machine, the concept of seam allowance and how to sew to a particular seam allowance, how to pin and cut fabric, how to sew in a straight line, pivot at corners & how to insert a zipper.

Skills expected: None!

Materials needed: 1/2 yard of fabric each for the Main fabric & Lining. Recommended fabrics include quilting cotton, linen, canvas, chambray. We have several suitable fabrics available for purchase in our shop online & in person.

In two sessions* of this 8-hour class, you’ll learn to make the hugely popular Making Backpack by Noodlehead featured in the “Color” Issue of Making Magazine. A perfect carryall for school, work or play. The zipper top and closure keep things secure. There is also an interior zip pocket and exterior slip pocket. Adjustable straps make it wearable in any season, also features additional top handles. The finished measurements are approximately 11 ½” wide x 15” tall x 5” deep (29 cm x 38 cm x 12 cm). This bag looks fantastic in canvas, twill and especially our unique oilskin from Merchant and Mills.

Skills expected: This is an intermediate class. Please be sure you have experience equivalent to a level 2 class.

Our essential shirt is a great beginner sewing class, introducing you to the world of garment sewing. In this 4-hour class you will learn to sew and make our Topstitch Essential Shirt pattern. You will learn all the basics of sewing, including learning the parts of the sewing machine and how to use them, learn how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine and troubleshoot common issues. Once you’ve threaded the machine you’ll learn how to cut out your pattern, learn the basics of understanding seam allowance, straight stitching and sewing along curves. We’ll provide the pattern and specific instructions and guide you along the way to make a the shirt. It is a boxy, kimono sleeved pullover. With no fitting challenges and no fiddly closures, it’s a perfect intro project. The pattern and sewing tools included at class. Fabric not included. Please bring 1.5 yards of pre-washed fabric to class. It is best suited for fabrics such as cotton lawn, double gauze, voile or linen. NOTE: Fabric can shrink after washing so you may want a little more than 1.5 yds especially if your fabric has a width less than 50″. Ask a staff member if you’re unsure about your fabric shrinkage.

This will include a short overview of the parts of the sewing machine and how to use them, learn how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine. Once you’ve threaded the machine you’ll learn how to cut out your pattern, learn the basics of understanding seam allowance, and straight stitching. We’ll provide the pattern and specific instructions and guide you along the way to make a super cute and functional snack bag. Its simple design is equally simple to make.

Skills you will learn: The skills you will learn in the class are how to understand a sewing machine, the concept of seam allowance and how to sew to a particular seam allowance, how to pin and cut fabric, and how to sew in a straight line.

Skills expected: None, just an open mind.

Materials needed: Two fabric pieces 1/2 yard for each piece (1 interior / 1 exterior). “Fat quarter” size is great! Suitable fabrics are quilting cotton.

We’ll provide the pattern and specific instructions and guide you along the way to make a super cute and functional snack bag. Its simple design is equally simple to make.

We will host a small group of ultra-beginners* here at the bakery to learn how to bake at home with sourdough starter. We will cover how to train up a lively starter from scratch, how to mix, ferment, shape, and bake your own loaf, and how to best utilize your home oven to produce crusty delicious results. We are limiting class size due to our small space, and to maximize hands-on bench-time with our lovely bakers!

You will take home:

  • A fresh loaf of sourdough that you’ve made!
  • A bit of active starter to keep you baking at home
  • Freshly milled whole wheat flour to feed your starter

  3. Most importantly, guests and artists alike can donate shoes (share love) to the victims of sex trafficking in the Atlanta community.

We request that you bring a pair or two of gently worn sneakers. The sneaker designs will be auctioned upon completion during the event with 50% of the proceeds going to a nonprofit of sex trafficking and 50% to the artists.

In this advanced class students will make either the Closet Case patterns Ginger Jeans or Cashmerette Ames Jeans over the course 3 sessions on a fun-filled jeans-making weekend. For Men, we also offer Thread Theory Quadro Jeans. Class will be begin on Friday 5:30-8:30 PM and continue Saturday and Sunday 11-5 PM.  Gingers and Ames jeans have a skinny, flattering fit designed for stretch denim. Your instructor will be in touch after you sign up to offer fitting and pre-cutting advice.

Note: To save time and space for your fellow sewists, please cut your pattern out before class. No need to stop by the shop, we will mail it to you approximately two weeks before class!  We encourage you to contact us before class if you need help cutting out your fabric. 

Skills you will learn:

In this class students will learn fitting tips and tricks to get the fit right, learn various seam finishes, learn to sew with a denim needle and thread, learn tidy topstitching, pocket assembly and proper placement, learning to sew a zip or button fly front, how to sew a neat waistband, how to apply rivets and hem your jeans.

Skills expected: This is an advanced class. Please be sure you have experience equivalent to a level-3 class.

Materials needed: Denim for your size (see yardage based on measurements on the back of your pattern), 200 yards of denim topstitching thread. We have Cone Mills stretch denim that is perfect for these jeans.

Materials provided: Ginger or Ames jeans sewing pattern, a zipper or buttons for button fly and rivets, a sewing machine, thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, measuring tape and an iron.

A perfect carryall for school, work or play. The zipper top and closure keep things secure. There is also an interior zip pocket and exterior slip pocket. Adjustable straps make it wearable in any season, also features additional top handles. The finished measurements are approximately 11 ½” wide x 15” tall x 5” deep (29 cm x 38 cm x 12 cm). This bag looks fantastic in canvas, twill and especially our unique oilskin from Merchant and Mills.

Our essential shirt is a great beginner sewing class, introducing you to the world of garment sewing. In this 4-hour class you will learn to sew and make our Topstitch Essential Shirt pattern. You will learn all the basics of sewing, including learning the parts of the sewing machine and how to use them, learn how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine and troubleshoot common issues. Once you’ve threaded the machine you’ll learn how to cut out your pattern, learn the basics of understanding seam allowance, straight stitching and sewing along curves. With no fitting challenges and no fiddly closures, it’s a perfect intro project. The pattern and sewing tools included at class. Fabric not included. It is best suited for fabrics such as cotton lawn, double gauze, voile or linen. NOTE: Fabric can shrink after washing so you may want a little more than 1.5 yds especially if your fabric has a width less than 50″. In this class you will learn the basics of sewing while sewing a reusable snack bag. This will include a short overview of the parts of the sewing machine and how to use them, learn how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine. Once you’ve threaded the machine you’ll learn how to cut out your pattern, learn the basics of understanding seam allowance, and straight stitching. We’ll provide the pattern and specific instructions and guide you along the way to make a super cute and functional snack bag. Its simple design is equally simple to make.

Skills you will learn: The skills you will learn in the class are how to understand a sewing machine, the concept of seam allowance and how to sew to a particular seam allowance, how to pin and cut fabric, and how to sew in a straight line.

Skills expected: None, just an open mind.

Materials needed: Two fabric pieces 1/2 yard for each piece (1 interior / 1 exterior). “Fat quarter” size is great! Suitable fabrics are quilting cotton.

We will host a small group of ultra-beginners* here at the bakery to learn how to bake at home with sourdough starter. We will cover how to train up a lively starter from scratch, how to mix, ferment, shape, and bake your own loaf, and how to best utilize your home oven to produce crusty delicious results. We are limiting class size due to our small space, and to maximize hands-on bench-time with our lovely bakers!

You will take home:

  • A fresh loaf of sourdough that you’ve made!
  • A bit of active starter to keep you baking at home
  • Freshly milled whole wheat flour to feed your starter
  • Information packet including helpful tips and notes from the class
  • Replicable formula for homemade country sourdough bread*This class is intended for folks who have little to no experience with naturally leavened baking.   3. Most importantly, guests and artists alike can donate shoes (share love) to the victims of sex trafficking in the Atlanta community.

We request that you bring a pair or two of gently worn sneakers. The sneaker designs will be auctioned upon completion during the event with 50% of the proceeds going to a nonprofit of sex trafficking and 50% to the artists.

In this advanced class students will make either the Closet Case patterns Ginger Jeans or Cashmerette Ames Jeans over the course 3 sessions on a fun-filled jeans-making weekend. For Men, we also offer Thread Theory Quadro Jeans. Class will be begin on Friday 5:30-8:30 PM and continue Saturday and Sunday 11-5 PM.  Gingers and Ames jeans have a skinny, flattering fit designed for stretch denim. Your instructor will be in touch after you sign up to offer fitting and pre-cutting advice.

Note: To save time and space for your fellow sewists, please cut your pattern out before class. No need to stop by the shop, we will mail it to you approximately two weeks before class!  We encourage you to contact us before class if you need help cutting out your fabric. 

Skills you will learn:

In this class students will learn fitting tips and tricks to get the fit right, learn various seam finishes, learn to sew with a denim needle and thread, learn tidy topstitching, pocket assembly and proper placement, learning to sew a zip or button fly front, how to sew a neat waistband, how to apply rivets and hem your jeans.

Skills expected: This is an advanced class. Please be sure you have experience equivalent to a level-3 class.

Materials needed: Denim for your size (see yardage based on measurements on the back of your pattern), 200 yards of denim topstitching thread. We have Cone Mills stretch denim that is perfect for these jeans.

Materials provided: Ginger or Ames jeans sewing pattern, a zipper or buttons for button fly and rivets, a sewing machine, thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, measuring tape and an iron.

In two sessions* of this 8-hour class, you’ll learn to make the hugely popular Making Backpack by Noodlehead featured in the “Color” Issue of Making Magazine. A perfect carryall for school, work or play. The zipper top and closure keep things secure. There is also an interior zip pocket and exterior slip pocket. Adjustable straps make it wearable in any season, also features additional top handles. The finished measurements are approximately 11 ½” wide x 15” tall x 5” deep (29 cm x 38 cm x 12 cm). This bag looks fantastic in canvas, twill and especially our unique oilskin from Merchant and Mills.

Our essential shirt is a great beginner sewing class, introducing you to the world of garment sewing. In this 4-hour class you will learn to sew and make our Topstitch Essential Shirt pattern. You will learn all the basics of sewing, including learning the parts of the sewing machine and how to use them, learn how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine and troubleshoot common issues. Once you’ve threaded the machine you’ll learn how to cut out your pattern, learn the basics of understanding seam allowance, straight stitching and sewing along curves. We’ll provide the pattern and specific instructions and guide you along the way to make a the shirt. It is a boxy, kimono sleeved pullover. With no fitting challenges and no fiddly closures, it’s a perfect intro project. The pattern and sewing tools included at class. Fabric not included. Please bring 1.5 yards of pre-washed fabric to class. It is best suited for fabrics such as cotton lawn, double gauze, voile or linen. NOTE: Fabric can shrink after washing so you may want a little more than 1.5 yds especially if your fabric has a width less than 50″. Ask a staff member if you’re unsure about your fabric shrinkage.

In this class you will learn the basics of sewing while sewing a reusable snack bag. This will include a short overview of the parts of the sewing machine and how to use them, learn how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine. Once you’ve threaded the machine you’ll learn how to cut out your pattern, learn the basics of understanding seam allowance, and straight stitching. We’ll provide the pattern and specific instructions and guide you along the way to make a super cute and functional snack bag. Its simple design is equally simple to make.

We will host a small group of ultra-beginners* here at the bakery to learn how to bake at home with sourdough starter. We will cover how to train up a lively starter from scratch, how to mix, ferment, shape, and bake your own loaf, and how to best utilize your home oven to produce crusty delicious results. We are limiting class size due to our small space, and to maximize hands-on bench-time with our lovely bakers!

You will take home:

  • A fresh loaf of sourdough that you’ve made!
  • A bit of active starter to keep you baking at home
  • Freshly milled whole wheat flour to feed your starter
  • Information packet including helpful tips and notes from the class

Sketches & Kicks is a live, silent auction social event where local artists create visual expression by sharing a piece from their sole on sneakers.
The event creates a platform where:

  2. Guests can enjoy an evening of musical and visual artistic performances (energy exchange)
  3. Most importantly, guests and artists alike can donate shoes (share love) to the victims of sex trafficking in the Atlanta community.

We request that you bring a pair or two of gently worn sneakers. The sneaker designs will be auctioned upon completion during the event with 50% of the proceeds going to a nonprofit of sex trafficking and 50% to the artists.

In this advanced class students will make either the Closet Case patterns Ginger Jeans or Cashmerette Ames Jeans over the course 3 sessions on a fun-filled jeans-making weekend. For Men, we also offer Thread Theory Quadro Jeans. Class will be begin on Friday 5:30-8:30 PM and continue Saturday and Sunday 11-5 PM.  Gingers and Ames jeans have a skinny, flattering fit designed for stretch denim. Your instructor will be in touch after you sign up to offer fitting and pre-cutting advice.

Note: To save time and space for your fellow sewists, please cut your pattern out before class. No need to stop by the shop, we will mail it to you approximately two weeks before class!  We encourage you to contact us before class if you need help cutting out your fabric. 

Skills you will learn:

In this class students will learn fitting tips and tricks to get the fit right, learn various seam finishes, learn to sew with a denim needle and thread, learn tidy topstitching, pocket assembly and proper placement, learning to sew a zip or button fly front, how to sew a neat waistband, how to apply rivets and hem your jeans.

Skills expected: This is an advanced class. Please be sure you have experience equivalent to a level-3 class.

Materials needed: Denim for your size (see yardage based on measurements on the back of your pattern), 200 yards of denim topstitching thread. We have Cone Mills stretch denim that is perfect for these jeans.

Materials provided: Ginger or Ames jeans sewing pattern, a zipper or buttons for button fly and rivets, a sewing machine, thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, measuring tape and an iron.

In two sessions* of this 8-hour class, you’ll learn to make the hugely popular Making Backpack by Noodlehead featured in the “Color” Issue of Making Magazine. A perfect carryall for school, work or play. The zipper top and closure keep things secure. There is also an interior zip pocket and exterior slip pocket. Adjustable straps make it wearable in any season, also features additional top handles. The finished measurements are approximately 11 ½” wide x 15” tall x 5” deep (29 cm x 38 cm x 12 cm). This bag looks fantastic in canvas, twill and especially our unique oilskin from Merchant and Mills.
*Sessions span 1/29 & 1/31

Skills expected: This is an intermediate class. Please be sure you have experience equivalent to a level 2 class.

Our essential shirt is a great beginner sewing class, introducing you to the world of garment sewing. In this 4-hour class you will learn to sew and make our Topstitch Essential Shirt pattern. You will learn all the basics of sewing, including learning the parts of the sewing machine and how to use them, learn how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine and troubleshoot common issues. Once you’ve threaded the machine you’ll learn how to cut out your pattern, learn the basics of understanding seam allowance, straight stitching and sewing along curves. We’ll provide the pattern and specific instructions and guide you along the way to make a the shirt. It is a boxy, kimono sleeved pullover. With no fitting challenges and no fiddly closures, it’s a perfect intro project. The pattern and sewing tools included at class. Fabric not included. Please bring 1.5 yards of pre-washed fabric to class. It is best suited for fabrics such as cotton lawn, double gauze, voile or linen. NOTE: Fabric can shrink after washing so you may want a little more than 1.5 yds especially if your fabric has a width less than 50″. Ask a staff member if you’re unsure about your fabric shrinkage.

We will host a small group of ultra-beginners* here at the bakery to learn how to bake at home with sourdough starter. We will cover how to train up a lively starter from scratch, how to mix, ferment, shape, and bake your own loaf, and how to best utilize your home oven to produce crusty delicious results. We are limiting class size due to our small space, and to maximize hands-on bench-time with our lovely bakers!

You will take home:

  • A fresh loaf of sourdough that you’ve made!
  • A bit of active starter to keep you baking at home
  • Freshly milled whole wheat flour to feed your starter

  3. Most importantly, guests and artists alike can donate shoes (share love) to the victims of sex trafficking in the Atlanta community.

We request that you bring a pair or two of gently worn sneakers. The sneaker designs will be auctioned upon completion during the event with 50% of the proceeds going to a nonprofit of sex trafficking and 50% to the artists.

In this advanced class students will make either the Closet Case patterns Ginger Jeans or Cashmerette Ames Jeans over the course 3 sessions on a fun-filled jeans-making weekend. For Men, we also offer Thread Theory Quadro Jeans. Class will be begin on Friday 5:30-8:30 PM and continue Saturday and Sunday 11-5 PM.  Gingers and Ames jeans have a skinny, flattering fit designed for stretch denim. Your instructor will be in touch after you sign up to offer fitting and pre-cutting advice.

Note: To save time and space for your fellow sewists, please cut your pattern out before class. No need to stop by the shop, we will mail it to you approximately two weeks before class!  We encourage you to contact us before class if you need help cutting out your fabric. 

Skills you will learn:

In this class students will learn fitting tips and tricks to get the fit right, learn various seam finishes, learn to sew with a denim needle and thread, learn tidy topstitching, pocket assembly and proper placement, learning to sew a zip or button fly front, how to sew a neat waistband, how to apply rivets and hem your jeans.

Skills expected: This is an advanced class. Please be sure you have experience equivalent to a level-3 class.

Materials needed: Denim for your size (see yardage based on measurements on the back of your pattern), 200 yards of denim topstitching thread. We have Cone Mills stretch denim that is perfect for these jeans.

Materials provided: Ginger or Ames jeans sewing pattern, a zipper or buttons for button fly and rivets, a sewing machine, thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, measuring tape and an iron.

A perfect carryall for school, work or play. The zipper top and closure keep things secure. There is also an interior zip pocket and exterior slip pocket. Adjustable straps make it wearable in any season, also features additional top handles. The finished measurements are approximately 11 ½” wide x 15” tall x 5” deep (29 cm x 38 cm x 12 cm). Placita is back!!!

PLACITA aka La Plaza de Santurce in PR is a open air block of restaurants and bars centered by the Farmers Market where the people of San Juan meet on weekends to eat, drink, dance and socialize. On Friday’s (most popular Placita day) the crowds start arriving after work 5pm and it goes on till 4am or later…everyone from teenagers to grandpas hang out together and celebrate LIFE!

We are Super excited to bring you Placita ATL this Friday. Come party with us at Ponce City Market. As always, we’ll have tasty libations from Don Q and delicious Puerto Rican inspired tapas. Where else in Atlanta can you groove to great tunes, while holding a Don Q cocktail in one hand and a Bacalaito in the other? No where! Only in Placita! We’ll see you this Friday! Wepa!!!

Topstitch Beginner Class: Essential Shirt @ Topstitch

Our essential shirt is a great beginner sewing class, introducing you to the world of garment sewing. In this 4-hour class you will learn to sew and make our Topstitch Essential Shirt pattern. You will learn all the basics of sewing, including learning the parts of the sewing machine and how to use them, learn how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine and troubleshoot common issues. Once you’ve threaded the machine you’ll learn how to cut out your pattern, learn the basics of understanding seam allowance, straight stitching and sewing along curves. We’ll provide the pattern and specific instructions and guide you along the way to make a the shirt. It is a boxy, kimono sleeved pullover. With no fitting challenges and no fiddly closures, it’s a perfect intro project. The pattern and sewing tools included at class. Fabric not included. Please bring 1.5 yards of pre-washed fabric to class. It is best suited for fabrics such as cotton lawn, double gauze, voile or linen. NOTE: Fabric can shrink after washing so you may want a little more than 1.5 yds especially if your fabric has a width less than 50″. Ask a staff member if you’re unsure about your fabric shrinkage.

Skills you will learn: The skills you will learn in the class are how to understand a sewing machine, the concept of seam allowance and how to sew to a particular seam allowance, how to pin and cut fabric, how to sew in a straight line and how to sew curves.

Skills expected: None, just an open mind!

Materials needed: 1.5 yards of pre-washed fabric such as cotton lawn, double gauze, voile or linen.

Materials provided: The Essential shirt sewing pattern, a sewing machine, coordinating thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, measuring tape and an iron.
