Close-up shot of farmers crates full of fresh greens

October 15 | 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm

PCM Community Farmers Market

The Shed

Located under “The Shed” on the BeltLine entrance of Ponce City Market, the Ponce City Farmers Market is the only farmers market in Georgia primarily attended by pedestrians and cyclists. The market is held seasonally on Tuesday evenings, and hosts some of Atlanta’s finest local food talent, including urban farmers, artisanal food makers, as well as pop-up chefs. Our market is a producer-only market, meaning that vendors sell only products that they grow or produce themselves. Our farmers use organic practices (some going even beyond organic) to help steward the earth while producing the freshest and most nutritious food available in Georgia. Look for veggies and fruits, pasture-raised eggs and meats, alongside artisanal food vendors and natural beauty-care vendors.

We encourage shoppers to access the market by walking or biking on the Beltline or park at Ponce City Market. Parking is complimentary for farmers market shoppers in the lots in front of Mountain High Outfitters. Market shoppers can receive one hour of free parking in these lots by choosing zone 22200 and inputting the code FARMERS2018 in the Park Mobile app. This is only valid during market.

Books & Booze: Lovecraft County

City Winery

Ponce City Market’s Posman Books and The City Winery have teamed up to put a new spin on the term “book club.” Literature lovers can purchase their copy of the month’s Halloween selection today from Posman Books and later bring it to Atlanta’s urban winery on October 15th, 7 pm – 9 pm, to enjoy a “spirited” discussion among fellow readers. Posman Books’ General Manager and horror/humor enthusiast Marc Stiles will host.

Lovecraft Country follows Atticus Black as he joins up with his friend Letitia and his Uncle George to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father. This begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback. An upcoming drama-horror television series, based on the novel, is set to premiere on HBO soon. The series is produced by Monkeypaw Productions, Bad Robot Productions, and Warner Bros. Television with executive producers including Jordan Peele, Misha Green, J. J. Abrams, and Ben Stephenson. Read the book and join us at The City Winery for a great, Halloween-themed evening!

2019-10-15 19:00:00 2019-10-15 21:00:00 America/New_York Books & Booze: Lovecraft County Ponce City Market’s Posman Books and The City Winery have teamed up to put a new spin on the term “book club.” Literature lovers can purchase their copy of the month’s Halloween selection today from Posman Books and later bring it to Atlanta’s urban winery on October 15th, 7 pm - 9 pm, to enjoy a "spirited" discussion among fellow readers. Posman Books' General Manager and horror/humor enthusiast Marc Stiles will host. Stepchild is the saga of the Gibsons, Adrienne and Josh, a fictional contemplation of love and race in America in the post-civil rights movement era. Set in Atlanta, Georgia, during the 1980s, it chronicles the love affair of Josh, a dispirited soul haunted by tragedy, and Adrienne, the love of his life. Determined to provide a solution rather than a conversation about America’s most enduring problem-race-Adrienne is pursuing her doctorate in sociology when she arrives at Morehouse College and meets the man she will come to call my Josh. They fall in love amongst the ruins of the crack epidemic beginning to rage through America and struggle with Josh’s battle to overcome an addiction to the devil’s dandruff. Loss seems to be the theme of their life together, but they never cease to believe in the power of love-the same belief Adrienne bequeaths her community in her dissertation, a document dedicated to the power and consequence of choice.

Meet the Author: Jan Alexander

Posman Books

Meet, Jan Alexander, author of Ms. Ming’s Guide to Civilization on Sunday, October 20th at Posman Books.

Ming, born in a bleak outpost of Sichuan province, finds an unexpected glimpse of the world beyond when she when she meets a talking monkey with golden eyes and supernatural abilities—the immortal Monkey King, with whom Ming’s destiny is inextricably intertwined. Determined to become a writer, Ming finds her way to New York, but she becomes employed by a by a crime ring to make ends meet and returns to China on the lam. Hope arrives in the form of her American friend Zoe. Together, they travel to the village of Ming’s birth, where the clouds writhe like phantoms and the rain never stops, and where Ming and Zoe join forces with a certain down-and-out immortal who has an ambitious plan to save the world from capitalism run amok.

When a nation of tycoons and financiers suddenly and inexplicably decide that the key to happiness lies in sharing one’s wealth and pursuing a contemplative life, nobody suspects the newly formed tech company run by Ming, Zoe, and William Sun.

Hyper-capitalist China rapidly becomes a paradise for artists, thinkers, and lovers—a rollicking playground where the air is clean and the strangest words you can hear are, “I can’t afford it!”But it’s a short-lived Xanadu once human nature begins to intervene. In Ms. Ming’s Guide to Civilization, as in life and politics, every action provokes an equal and opposite reaction.

This week, PCFM welcomes the Georgia Forestry Foundation and the Chattahoochee Nature Conservancy for special programming in conjunction with National Forest Products Week. Join us and learn how working forests provide products that are essential to our everyday survival, comfort, and progress.

We’ll have the perfect hands-on, dining option to complement the rest of the Mardi Gras festivities happening on THE ROOF!

Complete with all the low-country fixins, the Crawfish Boil will be a separate ticket you will need to purchase to grant access into our covered Rooftop Terrace. We’ll also have a live brass band playing in the Terrace during the Crawfish Boil–Each ticket will get you a heaping serving of our Crawfish Boil, which includes whole boiled crawfish, andouille sausage, corn on the cob, red potatoes, peppers, onions, and grilled fennel. We will also be serving a sausage and chicken boil alternative for shell-fish allergies that includes all of the above, minus the crawfish, plus chicken. But wait, there’s more! We’ll be complimenting the Crawfish Boil with unlimited Hushpuppies, Hoppin’ John salad, red beans & rice, muffaletta deviled eggs, and of course KING CAKE for dessert. Alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase at one of our many bars across The Roof.
