George Weinstein is the author of five novels to date, including The Five Destinies of Carlos Moreno, the contemporary mystery, Aftermath, and the Southern historical novel, Hardscrabble Road, a favorite with book clubs. In addition, George speaks often at conferences, workshops, and other events. He has been an active participant and leader within the Atlanta Writers Club since 2001 and directs the AWC’s Atlanta Writers Conference twice each year. Meet George on Saturday, February 9th at 10 am as he signs copies of his novels at Posman Books Ponce City Market.

Daisy was carefully designed to be versatile and provide you with subtle support while lounging, playing, sleeping, traveling or just going out.
- Skills taught: Sewing with knit and lace fabrics, sewing bra elastic, sewing curves.
- Skills expected: You’ve taken one of our intro classes or have equivalent experience. You know how to thread and use a sewing machine. You’ve sewn within the last 2 years. You have some basic garment sewing experience.

The serger is often what sets homemade-looking garments apart from beautifully handmade garments. Learn the art of finishing your garment with a serger. In this class you will learn all the basics of the serger, including learning the parts of the serger, how to thread the machine, clean it, understand tension and troubleshoot common issues. Once you’ve threaded the machine you’ll learn various stitches and then sew a pair of leggings.
The Virginia leggings are a great intro to knits in conjunction with the serger. Leggings are a wardrobe staple, excellent as casual lounge pants or easily dressed up depending on your fabric choice. Pattern and sewing tools included at class. Fabric not included. Your fabric will need to have 40% stretch. You will need 1 & 1/2 yards of fabric for all sizes if your fabric is 60″ wide; 2 & 1/2 if you fabric is 45″ wide.
Skills taught: The skills you will learn in this class are an understanding of using sergers, how to thread the serger and troubleshoot common issues, how to sew stretch fabrics, sewing a waistband, serging seams.
Skills expected: You’ve taken one of our intro to sewing classes or have equivalent experience. You have some basic garment sewing experience and know how to read a sewing pattern. You know how to thread and use a sewing machine. You’ve sewn within the last 2 years. You will not be taught to sew in this class so please be sure you already know how to sew!

Julia McDermott is a novelist and the author of an award winning true story, creative nonfiction ALL THE ABOVE: MY SON’S BATTLE WITH BRAIN CANCER. Her latest novel, DADDY’S GIRL, is a domestic psychological suspense set in Atlanta. Julia has been featured at the Dahlonega Literary Festival, the Milton Literary Festival, the Decatur Book Festival, and at many other literary events. Julia is currently writing her next suspense novel and is ghostwriting a nonfiction book for an Atlanta media personality. Her short story, The Riverfest, will be included in the anthology DOWN TO THE RIVER to be published in April 2019 by Down & Out Books. A fluent French speaker, Julia is active in Atlanta’s French community. She is a member of Atlanta Pen Women and the Atlanta Writers Club, for whom she will present a talk on writing, marketing and publicizing creative nonfiction/memoir in March 2019. Come meet Julia on Sunday Feb. 10 at 1:00 when she will be with us to sign copies of her works.

The fit is below the waist and the back is slightly cheeky with a center back seam. “Clover” is easy to make and requires minimum materials. Be ready to have fun making numerous “Clover” panties in many different colors and a variety of fabrics. Use a Cotton or Bamboo Spandex blend knit fabrics for a cute look, or stretch mesh for a romantic style.

Talat is collaborating with Sarah Dodge (of Bread is Good) to bring you a dinner that is inspired by all the allergies we encounter in the food business. We will start with an allergen-packed appetizer, followed by four courses that play with (and contain) shellfish, gluten, meat, and dairy. Sorry in advance.

Brezza Cucina offers Kids Pizza-Making Classes the second Monday of every month! The restaurant’s culinary team teaches little chefs how to stretch pizza dough before they top pies themselves and watch as the pizzas bake in the restaurant’s wood fire oven.
Classes cost $25 per child, including a complimentary glass of wine for the accompanying adult, and are held from 5-7pm.

In our 2-part, advanced beginner dressmaking class, students will make The Day Dress by The Avid Seamstress. The classic silhouette is the essential dress pattern to teach you necessary dressmaking skills such as darts, set-in sleeves, gathered waist, invisible zipper closure … and POCKETS! Pattern and sewing tools included at class*.
*Note: Fabric not included. Check the pattern back for fabric yardage required for your size. Bring your pre-washed and pre-cut fabric to class. To save time and space for your fellow sewists, cut your pattern out before class. We encourage you to stop into the shop before class for help cutting out your fabric if needed.
