Posman Books

Meet author, Erskine Hawkins Jr on October 19th at Posman Books Ponce City market from 1 pm – 3 pm and get your book signed!

Stepchild is the saga of the Gibsons, Adrienne and Josh, a fictional contemplation of love and race in America in the post-civil rights movement era. Set in Atlanta, Georgia, during the 1980s, it chronicles the love affair of Josh, a dispirited soul haunted by tragedy, and Adrienne, the love of his life. Determined to provide a solution rather than a conversation about America’s most enduring problem-race-Adrienne is pursuing her doctorate in sociology when she arrives at Morehouse College and meets the man she will come to call my Josh. They fall in love amongst the ruins of the crack epidemic beginning to rage through America and struggle with Josh’s battle to overcome an addiction to the devil’s dandruff. Loss seems to be the theme of their life together, but they never cease to believe in the power of love-the same belief Adrienne bequeaths her community in her dissertation, a document dedicated to the power and consequence of choice.

Meet the Author: Jan Alexander

Posman Books

Meet, Jan Alexander, author of Ms. Ming’s Guide to Civilization on Sunday, October 20th at Posman Books.

Ming, born in a bleak outpost of Sichuan province, finds an unexpected glimpse of the world beyond when she when she meets a talking monkey with golden eyes and supernatural abilities—the immortal Monkey King, with whom Ming’s destiny is inextricably intertwined. Determined to become a writer, Ming finds her way to New York, but she becomes employed by a by a crime ring to make ends meet and returns to China on the lam. Hope arrives in the form of her American friend Zoe. Together, they travel to the village of Ming’s birth, where the clouds writhe like phantoms and the rain never stops, and where Ming and Zoe join forces with a certain down-and-out immortal who has an ambitious plan to save the world from capitalism run amok.

When a nation of tycoons and financiers suddenly and inexplicably decide that the key to happiness lies in sharing one’s wealth and pursuing a contemplative life, nobody suspects the newly formed tech company run by Ming, Zoe, and William Sun.

Hyper-capitalist China rapidly becomes a paradise for artists, thinkers, and lovers—a rollicking playground where the air is clean and the strangest words you can hear are, “I can’t afford it!”But it’s a short-lived Xanadu once human nature begins to intervene. In Ms. Ming’s Guide to Civilization, as in life and politics, every action provokes an equal and opposite reaction.

PCM Community Farmers Market

The Shed

Located under “The Shed” on the BeltLine entrance of Ponce City Market, the Ponce City Farmers Market  is the only farmers market in Georgia primarily attended by pedestrians and cyclists. The market is held seasonally on Tuesday evenings, and hosts some of Atlanta’s finest local food talent, including urban farmers, artisanal food makers, as well as pop-up chefs.

This week, PCFM welcomes the Georgia Forestry Foundation and the Chattahoochee Nature Conservancy for special programming in conjunction with National Forest Products Week. Join us and learn how working forests provide products that are essential to our everyday survival, comfort, and progress.

Our market is a producer-only market, meaning that vendors sell only products that they grow or produce themselves. Our farmers use organic practices (some going even beyond organic) to help steward the earth while producing the freshest and most nutritious food available in Georgia. Look for veggies and fruits, pasture-raised eggs and meats, alongside artisanal food vendors and natural beauty-care vendors.

We encourage shoppers to access the market by walking or biking on the Beltline or park at Ponce City Market. Parking is complimentary for farmers market shoppers in the lots in front of Mountain High Outfitters. Market shoppers can receive one hour of free parking in these lots by choosing zone 22200 and inputting the code FARMERS2018 in the Park Mobile app. This is only valid during market.
