Topstitch Class: Copy Your Clothes Pt. 1

Topstitch

Do you have a favorite top, dress, or skirt you’d love re-create to wear again and again? In this 6 hour class over two sessions, you will learn to create a pattern from a favorite garment in order to recreate it as many times as your heart desires! Please bring 3 fairly simple favorite garments that you’d love to be able to copy. During your first class Brittani will help determine which one is best to copy in the class (nothing too complicated please). Brittani will then show students how to create a pattern from their garment. In the second session of the class you will then learn to sew a muslin version of your garment with guidance from Brittani. *Please note, the goal of the class is to create the pattern of the item you wish to copy. In the 2nd class you will begin to sew a muslin but may need to complete it outside of class.

  • Skills Taught: The skills you will learn in this class are how to create a pattern from a favorite garment.
  • Skills Expected: You’ve taken one of our intro to sewing classes or have equivalent experience. You have some basic garment sewing experience such as a pullover top or a-line skirt. You know how to thread and use a sewing machine. You’ve sewn within the last 2 years. You will not be taught to sew in this class so please be sure you already know how to sew!
  • Materials Needed: Bring 3 favorite garments to the first session. During that session Brittani will help you determine how much fabric is needed to sew your garment in the second session.
  • Materials Provided: Pattern tracing paper, a sewing machine, coordinating thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, measuring tape, an iron and ironing board.

“All our life needs is for us to come to a spiritual endurance. The effect of this spiritual endurance is the primary factor that can take you calmly and quietly through the channels of life. There is no difference between you and your divine endurance. The pressure we all go through is sometimes unbearable and this pressure is always here. Atmosphere has a pressure, longitude and latitude have a pressure, and aptitude and attitude have a pressure. That is why we build spiritual endurance through meditation and mantra. Sometimes each person’s load can only be taken collectively. Collectively we can pull the weight. We have a collective strength in us, hand in hand, in friendship, in the love, and in the affection. Do not keep things to yourself and say, ‘I cannot.’ There is nothing you cannot do.”-Yogi Bhajan

PCM Community Farmers Market

The Shed

Located under “The Shed” on the BeltLine entrance of Ponce City Market, the Ponce City Farmers Market  is the only farmers market in Georgia primarily attended by pedestrians and cyclists. The market is held seasonally on Tuesday evenings, and hosts some of Atlanta’s finest local food talent, including urban farmers, artisanal food makers, as well as pop-up chefs. Our market is a producer-only market, meaning that vendors sell only products that they grow or produce themselves. Our farmers use organic practices (some going even beyond organic) to help steward the earth while producing the freshest and most nutritious food available in Georgia. Look for veggies and fruits, pasture-raised eggs and meats, alongside artisanal food vendors and natural beauty-care vendors.

We encourage shoppers to access the market by walking or biking on the Beltline or park at Ponce City Market. Parking is complimentary for farmers market shoppers in the lots in front of Mountain High Outfitters. Market shoppers can receive one hour of free parking in these lots by choosing zone 22200 and inputting the code FARMERS2018 in the Park Mobile app. This is only valid during market.
