PCM Community Farmers Market

The Shed

Located under “The Shed” on the BeltLine entrance of Ponce City Market, the Ponce City Farmers Market is the only farmers market in Georgia primarily attended by pedestrians and cyclists. The market is held seasonally on Tuesday evenings, and hosts some of Atlanta’s finest local food talent, including urban farmers, artisanal food makers, as well as pop-up chefs. Our market is a producer-only market, meaning that vendors sell only products that they grow or produce themselves. Our farmers use organic practices (some going even beyond organic) to help steward the earth while producing the freshest and most nutritious food available in Georgia. Look for veggies and fruits, pasture-raised eggs and meats, alongside artisanal food vendors and natural beauty-care vendors.

We encourage shoppers to access the market by walking or biking on the Beltline or park at Ponce City Market. Parking is complimentary for farmers market shoppers in the lots in front of Mountain High Outfitters. Market shoppers can receive one hour of free parking in these lots by choosing zone 22200 and inputting the code FARMERS2018 in the Park Mobile app. This is only valid during market.

FLUX Projects

FLUX: Ponce City Market, an art event exploring the iconic community hub as a playground of acoustic space, announces the lineup of featured exhibition artists. Each year, FLUX explores a select site through temporary public art projects, and this year’s artists will “turn up the volume” of Ponce City Market – manifesting the sonic qualities of the building in engaging, unexpected ways and bringing awareness to how the building exists around us and reacts to our presence – during the exhibition held this September 26 through 29.

Produced by Flux Projects and curated by artist and musician Ben Coleman, the event will feature works incorporating sound as the primary medium from artists including the following:

  • Eli Keszler – A New York-based artist, composer and percussionist, Eli Keszler’s music, installations and visual works use the environment, architecture and percussion to explore how sound and space transform locations.
  • Jane Foley – Jane Foley is an Atlanta-based sculptor, performer and sound artist whose sound works explore isolation and connectivity in public spaces, beginning with subtle repeated experiments in deep listening and reciprocity.
  • Mark Wentzel & Andrew Lackey – For their first collaboration, the two will combine Wentzel’s background with public projects addressing human perception and awareness with Lackey’s expertise in creating interactive soundscapes.
  • Otherpole (Kai Riedl and Éric Marty) – Otherpole is a creative research collective working at the intersection of visual art, sound and technology. Artists Kai Riedl (Durham, NC) and Éric Marty (Athens, GA) are also co-founders of the Slingshot festival of music, electronic art and tech in Athens, Georgia.
  • Talecia Tucker – Talecia Tucker is an Atlanta-based interdisciplinary artist and designer, whose work  explores the social and cultural nuances of identity in America. Informed by historical references, composition, textiles and cultural influences, her work provides insight into experiences that are usually private.
  • Tricia Hersey – Tricia Hersey is a poet, performance artist, theater maker, and community organizer. She is the founder of The Nap Ministry, an Atlanta-based organization that examines rest as a form of resistance by curating safe spaces for the community to rest via Collective Napping Experiences, immersive workshops and performance art installations. Tricia believes impromptu spectacles can bring awareness to social justice issues that paralyze our communities.
  • Unexpected Collective (Rebecca M. K. Makus, Elly Jessop Nattinger, and Peter A. Torpey)– Unexpected Collective is a group of artists who collectively create interactive experiences that evoke joy, delight and surprise. They met through a project at MIT Media Lab and continue to collaborate while living in Atlanta, San Francisco and Boston.

Meet the Author: Daniela Petrova

Posman Books

She befriended the one woman she was never supposed to meet. Now she’s the key suspect in her disappearance. For fans of The Perfect Mother and The Wife Between Us comes a gripping psychological suspense debut about two strangers, one incredible connection, and the steep price of obsession. Lana Stone has never considered herself a stalker–until the night she impulsively follows a familiar face through the streets of New York’s Upper West Side. Her target? The “anonymous” egg donor she’d selected through an agency, the one who’s making motherhood possible for her. Hungry to learn more about her, Lana plans only to watch her from a distance. But when circumstances bring them face-to-face, an unexpected friendship is born. Katya, a student at Columbia, is the yin to Lana’s yang, an impulsive free spirit who lives life at the edge. And for pragmatic Lana, she’s a breath of fresh air and a welcome distraction from her painful breakup with her baby’s father. Then, just as suddenly as Katya entered Lana’s life, she disappears–and Lana might have been the last person to see her before she went missing. Determined to find out what became of the woman to whom she owes so much, Lana digs into Katya’s past, even as the police grow suspicious of her motives. But she’s unprepared for the secrets she unearths, and their power to change everything she thought she knew about those she loves best…

Produced by Flux Projects and curated by artist and musician Ben Coleman, the event will feature works incorporating sound as the primary medium from artists including the following: Eli Keszler – A New York-based artist, composer and percussionist, Eli Keszler’s music, installations and visual works use the environment, architecture and percussion to explore how sound and space transform locations. Jane Foley – Jane Foley is an Atlanta-based sculptor, performer and sound artist whose sound works explore isolation and connectivity in public spaces, beginning with subtle repeated experiments in deep listening and reciprocity. Mark Wentzel & Andrew Lackey – For their first collaboration, the two will combine Wentzel’s background with public projects addressing human perception and awareness with Lackey’s expertise in creating interactive soundscapes. Otherpole (Kai Riedl and Éric Marty) – Otherpole is a creative research collective working at the intersection of visual art, sound and technology. Artists Kai Riedl (Durham, NC) and Éric Marty (Athens, GA) are also co-founders of the Slingshot festival of music, electronic art and tech in Athens, Georgia. Talecia Tucker – Talecia Tucker is an Atlanta-based interdisciplinary artist and designer, whose work  explores the social and cultural nuances of identity in America. Informed by historical references, composition, textiles and cultural influences, her work provides insight into experiences that are usually private. Tricia Hersey – Tricia Hersey is a poet, performance artist, theater maker, and community organizer. Unexpected Collective (Rebecca M.

Sip & Learn: CBD & Wine

City Winery Atlanta

How do you relax after a long day? While we always recommend a nice glass of wine and your favorite song, some days need something a little extra. Join us for an evening of sipping wine and discussing CBD or Cannabidiol, a hemp derivative that has been shown to reduce anxiety and in some cases, has been effective in physical pain relief.

Guests can join in a discussion of what CBD is, what it does, and how it can become a part of your ‘Wine Down’ regimen.  We will have samples of various CBD oils and tinctures as well as a tasting of three City Winery wines to enjoy as we discuss. We’ll also have Second Self Brewing’s Cirrus, CBD-infused sparkling water.Cheese and charcuterie will be provided.

Slow Fashion Symposium

What is Slow Fashion? It can mean many things, but the tenets of it include:

  • Buying vintage, mending & modifying clothes to extend their life.
  • Being conscious of waste in our wardrobes.
  • Buying quality items that last.
  • A focus on craftsmanship and styles that withstand passing trends.
  • Made sustainably with a focus on fair wages & responsible environmental ethics.
  • Shopping consciously. Supporting small businesses, transparent supply chains, and the local economy.

COCO + MISCHA is a retail store in Atlanta that is passionate about slow fashion. Last year, they found there were many local customers eager to connect with likeminded shoppers, and there were many more who were unfamiliar with the movement. They wanted to draw people into the conversations they were having at the shop each day. In 2018, they hosted & moderated a discussion on ethical fashion to a sold-out room in a conversation that lasted almost 3 hours! People were hungry for more, and they felt like there was so much more to be said. Now, they want to address some of the conversations and questions that needed more time, but they also want to move beyond talk into advocacy, practical styling, and of course, shopping. So with the help of property managers, Jamestown, they’ve grown the 2019 into a multi-day interactive conference.

Meet the Author: Christine Ristaino

Posman Books

In September 2007, Christine Ristaino was attacked in a store parking lot while her three- and five-year-old children watched. In All the Silent Spaces, Ristaino shares what it felt like to be an ordinary person confronted with an extraordinary event—a woman trying to deal with acute trauma even as she went on with her everyday life, working at a university and parenting two children with her husband. She not only narrates how this event changed her but also tells how looking at the event through both the reactions of her community and her own sensibility allowed her to finally face two other violent episodes she had previously experienced. As new memories surfaced after the attack, it took everything in Ristaino’s power to not let catastrophe unravel the precarious threads holding everything together. Moving between the greater issues associated with violence and the personal voyage of overcoming grief, All the Silent Spaces is about letting go of what you think you know in order to rebuild.

Meet Christine on October 12th, 2019 at Posman Books Ponce City Market from 11 am – 1 pm!
