Earth Day at PCM Farmers Market @ The Shed

Seedlings, and Pollinators, and a Tortoise, oh my!
Ponce City Farmers Market is celebrating EarthDay with special guests, plus a Celebration of Ponce City Market’s Bee Installment as we team up with the ‘Bee Team’ of Bee Downtown to install three #honeybee hives on the building’s roof. The welcome celebration will include: honey jar giveaways, observation hives, pollinator-friendly seed giveaways, exclusive beekeeping experiences and more. These hives will remain in place for multiple years and will aid in the efforts of preserving the honey bee population. Also at this special Farmers Market Day:

  • The Georgia Forestry Commission will be giving away 100 tree seedlings at the farmers market, and Smokey the Bear will be making an appearance for photos.
  • Topstitch Studio and Lounge will be teaching a reusable snack bag sewing class so you can enjoy your market goodies with sustainable packaging.
  • Chattahoochee Nature Center will be sharing several fascinating animals that make Georgia their home. Meet one of their non-releasable snakes at their booth, and at 5pm, 6pm and 7pm, attendees can head to The Plaza at Ponce City Market for a 20-minute encounter with Georgia’s State Reptile, the Gopher Tortoise (maximum participants of 40 per session).
  • Midtown ATL Alliance will be on hand to talk clean transportation and commuting, while CompostNow can answer your burning questions about food waste and composting!

We encourage shoppers to access the market by walking or biking on the Beltline or park at Ponce City Market. Parking is complimentary for farmers market shoppers in the lots in front of Mountain High Outfitters. Market shoppers can receive one hour of free parking in these lots by choosing zone 22200 and inputting the code FARMERS2018 in the Park Mobile app. This is only valid during market.
